Patagonian Adventure at Estancia Río Capitán

Santa Cruz Province, Argentina

Embark on a true Patagonian fly fishing expedition at Estancia Río Capitán Lodge, a remote 60,000-acre ranch tucked deep in Argentina’s wild Santa Cruz Province—just a few hours from the legendary glacier country of El Calafate and El Chaltén. This untouched fishery lies deep in the remote Tucu Tucu Valley—one of the most inaccessible corners of Patagonia. Perched high on the windswept pampa along the Chile–Argentina border, it overlooks the towering ramparts of the Patagonian Andes.

This is a zone with mythic size trout—massive rainbows and bruiser browns that will absolutely melt your reel and blow your mind. Exclusive access to untouched waters means no angler pressure and hungry, dumb fish.

The week includes six full days of guided fishing, exploring a different piece of water every day— if you wish you will never fish the same stretch of water twice. The estancia offers a rare diversity of private fisheries:

  • Río Capitán – 10 miles of classic Patagonian river

  • Tavía Spring Creek – 23 miles of technical, sight-casting paradise

  • Toro Pond – stillwater brilliance

  • Quiroga Lake – cruising trout and wind-swept takes

Rustic Comfort & Patagonian Hospitality

The lodge hosts just six anglers across three double rooms with private baths, ensuring an intimate, personalized experience. You’ll be on the water at a reasonable hour after a hearty breakfast. Then fish all day, with lunch at riverside refugios (heated huts with bathrooms) or streamside picnics, returning around 6 PM to the lodge for happy hour and a gourmet dinner.
